Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday is celebrated as Guru Nanak Jayanti or Guru Nanak Gurpurab on Kartik Pooranmashi. Every year Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated, but there is no fixed date it changes year to year, depending upon the Hindu calendar.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji got enlightenment in 1496. He spread the message of Universal Brotherhood. He always said, “There is no Hindu, nor any Mussalam.” His teachings in the form of 974 poetic hymns are inscribed in the Holy Book, Guru Granth Sahib. Japji Sahib is one of his most popular teachings.
