Aakash Tablet Launched in India

The cheapest tablet of the world named Aakash launched on Wednesday in India by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal. Considering the upliftment of education in India, Government will provide this cheapest tablet to the students pursuing graduation at the price of Rs. 1400 and it will be available commercially for general people at about Rs. 3000.

The product is being manufactured by the manufactured by UK-based Datawind Company having its production center in Hyderabad. Although the company is delivering the product at Rs. 2270 but Government of India will pay 50% subsidy at the cost and will sell it to 1,00,000 students at a rate of Rs. 1400 thus revolutionizing the Indian education.

Aakash tablet although can’t be compared with the ipads or galaxy tabs but still it empowers all the basic features.
The tablet weighing just 350gms runs on Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and powers 366 MHz processor, on chip Graphics accelerator and HD Video processor. It has 7-inch Multi-touch resistive touchscreen display having 800×480 resolution. It contains the media player, web browser and needful applications for the usage.

Aakash tab has 256MB of RAM and 2 GB of storage memory which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card. It has an internal rechargeable non-removable lithium-polymer battery consuming 2 Watts of power consumption with solar charging option and gives a backup of 2-3 hours.

The tablet comes with two full-sized USB ports and Wi- Fi connectivity but the Government subsidized tablet will not have an inbuilt cellular modem and SIM card slot but will be available in commercial devices.

The government has a great step towards the education of India and has assured that the device will be available at Rs. 500 only in the coming future. This tablet For “AAM AADMI” will definitely attract the lower and middle class families who can’t afford the heavy costing gadgets.
