Not too sooner not much late Samsung has finally released Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update for Samsung Galaxy Ace to make it faster and more powerful. The update to Android Gingerbread can be availed using the Samsung Kies Software. This update improves overall performance of the handset.
The main difference that lays in Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread as compared to 2.2 Froyo is the refined the user interface, improved the soft keyboard and copy/paste features, and added support for Near Field Communication.
Some of the new features of Android gingerbread Platform are:
Refinement of user interface for simplicity and speed: A simplified visual theme of colors against black brings vividness and contrast to the notification bar, menus, and other parts of the UI.
One-touch word selection and improved copy/paste: Now while entering text or viewing a web page, the user can quickly select a word by press-hold, then copy to the clipboard and paste. For text entry, the user can slide-press to enter a cursor mode, then reposition the cursor easily and accurately by dragging the cursor arrow.
Improved power management: The improved Android system manages the apps that are keeping the device awake for too long or that are consuming CPU while running in the background. It kills them or closes them if appropriate hence, increasing the performance and maximizing the battery life. The system also gives the user more visibility over the power being consumed by system components and running apps.
Enhanced Control over applications: A shortcut to the Manage Applications control now appears in the Options Menu in the Home screen and Launcher, making it much easier to check and manage application activity.

Galaxy Ace will speeds up a lot after updating to Gingerbread 2.3.4.
On pressing the power button, there is new option of “Data Network Mode” which helps you to activate and deactivate data network usage from power button only instead of going to settings.
Battery bar at the top of the screen is changed to vertical and GPS icon is changed in the notification area. There is a change in music player too. Icon for network services is changed and a new option of Downloads is added to menu.
You can update your Samsung Galaxy Ace to Android 2.3.4 by following these simple steps:
Firstly, Install Samsung Kies software from the CD provided with the handset or you can download Kies from the link provided below:
After the completion of installation, open Kies and connect your phone using data cable.
As soon as you connect your phone to your PC, you will get a notification that a new firmware version is available and will request you to upgrade. Select the Update button to update it now.
Read all the instruction provided and click on Start upgrade.
When the update process starts, it will start downloading firmware upgrade components. You also need to take a backup of your contacts and bookmarks when prompted.
Now the firmware download will start and it will take around 1 hour to complete the upgrade process. Don’t disconnect your phone while upgrade is under process.
When the update process will finish, a window will pop up saying Firmware upgrade complete.
After updating you can enjoy the new features of Android Gingerbread in your Samsung Galaxy Ace.
