Krishna Janmashtami is a very famous and popular festival of Hindus which is celebrated by every Hindu with full zeal and devotion. This festival is celebrated in different ways all over the world. Especially in Mumbai and Pune it is celebrated by bursting Dahi Handi. A clay pot filled with dahi is placed at a height and people break it by making a human pyramid. This Indian festival is celebrated by the people all over India with full enthusiasm.
This festival begins before dawn and is celebrated all the day, until midnight. Lord Krishna had spend his childhood days in Mathura and Vrindavan and there are many temples of Lord Krishna are present there so people from all over the world come to this religious place to celebrate Janmashtami.
Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated at home by offering prayers to Lord Krishna devotees fast for the whole day cook hundred of dishes. They decorate the deity of Lord Krishna as well as their homes. Various dances and dramas are also performed.
Various prayers are offered all the night in temples as well as homes. The priests at various temples chant holy mantras and offer the idol of Lord Krishna with Panchamrit, milk, honey, ghee and curd offering all these things with great devotion. After offering all the things to the newly born Krishna is placed in a crib.
