Lord Ganesha is the Hindu God who is worshipped as “Pratham Pujya“ in every puja. The Festival Ganesh Chaturthi is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is celebrated as his birthday. Lord Ganesha is the god of wisdom and prosperity and though the festival is celebrated in all over India with equal enthusiasm, but it’s one of the chief festivals of Maharashtra! And not limited to India only, this festival is celebrated in every country where Indians live.
In Maharashtra, the Ganpati Mahotsav starts many days before this very day and last till the Lord Ganesha Paratima gets ‘Visarjan’ on the last day of festival. Factually, the festival starts on shukla Chaturthi of the month of Bhadrapada and last for 10 days till Annant Chaturdashi (According to Hindu calendar).
