Amitabh Bachchan, son of Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan a well-known Hindi poet and Mrs.Teji Bachchan Sikh-Punjabi from Faisalabad was born in Allahabad on 11th October 1942. He did his schooling from Allahabad and graduation from Delhi University. After completing the studies he headed towards the film industry and then never looked back since then.

The movie became the highest grossing film of all time in India, earning INR 2,36,45,00,000 equivalent to US$ 60 million. Not blowing with the wind Amitabh kept his work at the first preference and continued to give more hits. Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Dostana, Silsila, Shaan, Sharabi, Lawaris and many more were the biggest hits of that time.

Mr. Bachchan also joined politics in 1984 and was an elected member of the Indian Parliament from 1984 to 1987. Bachchan also suffered from many injuries in his acting career like during the shooting of movie Coolie, and was hospitalized in 2005 to undergo surgery for diverticulitis of the small intestine.

He returned to bollywood after his company ABCL fell off and appeared in many superhits movies like Mohabbatein, Baghban, Bunty aur bubbly, Sarkar, Black, Paa and his latest movie was Buddha Hoga Tera Baap. Even after 69 years of his age he is still among the top actors of bollywood.

Apart from gaining huge success in Bollywood cinema Mr. Bachchan also rocked the television world by anchoring in the most popular TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati which acquired maximum TRP among TV serials of the time. He also hosted Bigg Boss season 3 and presently hosting the Kaun Banega Crorepati season 5 which has already become a huge success.

Bachchan has won numerous major awards in his career, including four National Film Awards, three of which are in the Best Actor category, and fourteen Filmfare Awards.
